In their 3 years of existence Red een Legkip (Safe a Layer Chicken) has saved over four thousand chickens from being slaughtered. When the layer chickens go to be slaughtered Red een Legkip offers the farmer an alternative, by offering the same amount as the slaughter would offer for the chickens. After this the chickens are put in shelters to recover, after which they go to great adoption homes where they will get all the space and care to enjoy a good life. Chickens that have never experienced life because they have never seen daylight, never been outside, were not able to withdraw themselves, and have always lived on wire mesh or at overpopulated farms, finally get chance to live and feel like a chicken is supposed to live and feel. The people who do this do it entirely voluntary. The only compensation they get is to cover the costs for food, straw, and medicines for the chickens.
